Some Implications of Constraints in Phasefield Models

In dieser Arbeit werden verschiedene Aspekte, die sich durch Zwangsbedingungen in der Phasenfeldmodellierung ergeben, untersucht. Zum einen wird, im Rahmen eines reinen Phasenfeldmodells, der Einfluss des häufig verwendeten Hindernispotentials in Bezug auf die Diskretisierung und algorithmische Gesichtspunkte der Verwendung von Projektions-basierten Algorithmen in nicht-gewichteten und gewichteten Mobilitätsformulierungen betrachtet. Zum anderen werden "Grandchem"-artige Modelle in einem chemischen, mechanischen und chemomechanischem Kontext diskutiert, in denen eine gegebene phasenunabhängige Größe innerhalb von Mehrphasenbereichen als gewichtetes Mittel der entsprechenden Größen innerhalb der Einzelphasen aufgefasst wird. Die so eingeführten zusätzlichen Freiheitsgrade ermöglichen durch eine geschickte Festlegung der phasenspezifischen Werte in Abhängigkeit der restlichen Parameter eine verbesserte Modellbildung, durch welche sich der Einfluss der Breite der Übergangsbereiche auf die Ergebnisse deutlich reduzieren lässt. In vielen Fällen lässt sich die meistens direkt physikalisch motivierte Festlegung der phasenspezifischen Größen zugleich als die Lösung eines parametrisierten Minimierungs- oder Maximierungsproblems unter der Nebenbedingung des vorgegebenen Mittelwerts interpretieren. Hier wird untersucht, welche Konsequenzen sich aus dieser Interpretation ergeben und weshalb das Zusammenspiel dieses lokalen Extremalproblems mit dem globalen variationellen Ansatz des Phasenfeldmodells von entscheidender Bedeutung ist

Secure policy-based device-to-device offloading for mobile applications

Mobile application offloading, with the purpose of extending battery lifetime and increasing performance has been intensively discussed recently, resulting in various different solutions: mobile device clones operated as virtual machines in the cloud, simultaneously running applications on the mobile device and on a distant server, as well as flexible solutions dynamically acquiring other mobile devices’ resources in the user’s surrounding. Existing solutions have gaps in the fields of data security and application security. These gaps can be closed by integrating data usage policies, as well as application-flow policies. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a novel approach of integrating XACML into existing mobile application offloading-frameworks. Data owners remain in full control of their data, still, technologies like device-to-device offloading can be used

Secure data sharing and processing in heterogeneous clouds

The extensive cloud adoption among the European Public Sector Players empowered them to own and operate a range of cloud infrastructures. These deployments vary both in the size and capabilities, as well as in the range of employed technologies and processes. The public sector, however, lacks the necessary technology to enable effective, interoperable and secure integration of a multitude of its computing clouds and services. In this work we focus on the federation of private clouds and the approaches that enable secure data sharing and processing among the collaborating infrastructures and services of public entities. We investigate the aspects of access control, data and security policy languages, as well as cryptographic approaches that enable fine-grained security and data processing in semi-trusted environments. We identify the main challenges and frame the future work that serve as an enabler of interoperability among heterogeneous infrastructures and services. Our goal is to enable both security and legal conformance as well as to facilitate transparency, privacy and effectivity of private cloud federations for the public sector needs. © 2015 The Authors

Naturschutz und Ökologischer Landbau – auch zukünftig ein win-win-Modell

Die Vorzüglichkeit des Ökologischen Landbaus gegenüber konventioneller Landwirtschaft in seinen Auswirkungen auf den Naturhaushalt ist anhand von Vergleichsuntersuchungen vielfach dokumentiert. Die positiven Aspekte für den Naturschutz drohen jedoch unter ökonomischen Zwängen geringer zu werden. In frühzeitigen Reaktionen gemeinsam mit der Landwirtschaft gilt es, integrative Lösungskonzepte aufzuzeigen, wie Naturschutzbelange in den Ökologischen Landbau integriert werden können bzw. wie neue Wege beschritten werden können, naturschutzfachliche Optimierungen zu erreichen. Die Bemühungen müssen ihren Niederschlag auch im länderübergreifenden Austausch finden

Towards Secure Collaboration in Federated Cloud Environments

Public administrations across Europe have been actively following and adopting cloud paradigms at various degrees. By establishing modern data centers and consolidating their infrastructures, many organizations already benefit from a range of cloud advantages. However, there is a growing need to further support the consolidation and sharing of resources across different public entities. The ever increasing volume of processed data and diversity of organizational interactions stress this need even further, calling for the integration on the levels of infrastructure, data and services. This is currently hindered by strict requirements in the field of data security and privacy. In this paper, we present ongoing work aimed at enabling secure private cloud federations for public administrations, performed in the scope of the SUNFISH H2020 project. We focus on architectural components and processes that establish cross-organizational enforcement of data security policies in mixed and heterogeneous environments. Our proposal introduces proactive restriction of data flows in federated environments by integrating real-time based security policy enforcement and its post-execution conformance verification. The goal of this framework is to enable secure service integration and data exchange in cross-entity contexts by inspecting data flows and assuring their conformance with security policies, both on organizational and federation level

Soziologische Fallanalyse der Einführung einer neuen Sportart in Österreich am Beispiel der Supermotard Staatsmeisterschaft von 1997 bis 2002 und den damit verbundenen ökonomischen Effekten

Die Diplomarbeit zum Thema „Soziologische Fallanalyse der Einführung einer neuen Sportart in Österreich am Beispiel der Supermotard Staatsmeisterschaft von 1997 bis 2002 und den damit verbundenen ökonomischen Effekten“ stellt einerseits die Aufgaben und Problemstellungen bei der Einführung einer neuen Sportart auf nationaler Ebene dar und beleuchtet andererseits die Bedeutung von Sport aus volkswirtschaftlicher Hinsicht sowie aus betriebswirtschaftlicher Betrachtung. Somit ist nach einer ausführlichen Definition spezifischer Begriffe und der rechtlichen Aspekte zur Sportart die Entstehung sowie die Geschichte und Entwicklung von Supermotard inklusive der technischen Beschreibung der Sportart in Österreich aufgearbeitet. Abschließend zum Kapitel sind die wirtschaftlichen Effekte der Einführung graphisch dargestellt. Der nachfolgende Teil beschäftigt sich mit der Sportökonomie bzw. den volkswirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen, wie z. B. den Einkommenseffekten, den fiskalischen Effekten und den Effekten des Arbeitsmarktes aufgrund der professionellen und semiprofessionellen Ausübung von Sport in einer Volkswirtschaft mit der damit verbundenen Bedeutung der Sponsortätigkeit im Sport. Die Darstellung der wirtschaftlichen Effekte von Supermoto in Österreich und die Verifizierung der Eingangshypothesen schließen die Arbeit ab.The thesis „Sociolocical case analysis of the introduction of a new type of sport in Austria and the commercial effects by way of example of Supermoto mastership from 1997 to 2002” shows the problems and tasks at the very beginning of a new kind of sport and at the other hand the economic and microeconomic importance of sport in Austria. After a detailed definition of specific terms and of the legal situation, the thesis shows the history and development of Supermoto in Austria (including the technical definitions of this special kind of sport) connected with the analyses of the economic effects. Income effects, the impact on taxes and the employment market due to the exercice of professional and semiprofessional sport in Austria as a part of economy of sport is outlined in chapter four. A brief construction of the economic effects of Supermoto in Austria and the verification of the hypothesis, stated at the beginning, finalise the thesis

Coherent and robust high-fidelity generation of a biexciton in a quantum dot by rapid adiabatic passage

A biexciton in a semiconductor quantum dot is a source of polarization-entangled photons with high potential for implementation in scalable systems. Several approaches for non-resonant, resonant and quasi-resonant biexciton preparation exist, but all have their own disadvantages, for instance low fidelity, timing jitter, incoherence or sensitivity to experimental parameters. We demonstrate a coherent and robust technique to generate a biexciton in an InGaAs quantum dot with a fidelity close to one. The main concept is the application of rapid adiabatic passage to the ground state-exciton-biexciton system. Konzeption und Realisierung eines Sleep Monitoring Frameworks für iOS

Tinnitus ist eine häufig auftretende Gesundheitsstörung, deren Ursache immer noch unklar ist. Etwa 1% der Bevölkerung leidet unter diesem Problem. Mittels dieser Arbeit soll für die Tinnitusforschung ein Framework zur Verfügung gestellt werden, um Daten von Patienten während des Schlafens erheben zu können. Dabei kommt ein iPhone zum Einsatz, mit dessen Sensoren Bewegungen und Geräusche aufgezeichnet werden. Im Anschluss daran werden die ermittelten Daten aufbereitet und analysiert. Die daraus gewonnen Erkenntnisse stehen dann der eingesetzten mobilen Anwendung zur Verfügung. Im Zuge dieser Bachelorarbeit wird beispielhaft eine Anwendung umgesetzt, die den Einsatz des Frameworks ermöglicht und die Ergebnisse der analysierten Daten präsentiert. Die Anwendung und das Framework sind allgemein für iOS-basierte Plattformen entwickelt
